May 18th commemorates the creation of the Haitian flag, originally sewn together in 1803 by Catherine Flon at the request of Jean Jacques Dessalines who tore the French flag and removed the white portion. Haitian Independence Day is a separate event and occurred on January 01, 1804.

On Saturday, May 18, 2024, BTC will partner with the City of North Miami to participate in the Pedalé 1804 Tri-City Bike Ride in celebration of Haitian Heritage Month. $10 from each set sold will be donated to the city of North Miami scholarship for Haitian-American students.
